Paris | Art in Architecture

Made a short trip to paris and vienna. It is a surreal experience when every direction in the city houses buildings and museums that showcase a high sense of taste and appreciation for beauty and art. Going through the city in hurry without soaking into the art and taste that goes into each architecture just does not do justice. In the limited time available made some images.

The biggest challenge in making images is managing the dynamic range without blowing highlights. For the sake of time I did not go the HDR way. For the insides of the chapelle anytime of the day looks ok but even here twilight time in evening would be good mainly because that would not blow out the highlights in the ornamental and beautiful window panes of the chapelle.

The pyramids in front of louvre museum actually provide some interesting alternative perspectives. The central glass pyramid is the main one but i found the smaller ones on the side much more interesting. Made some images in the setting sun ( BTW sun was setting at 9pm in the night which in some sense is convenient ) with the palace backdrop.

Arc de triomphe is another popular structure from paris. Looks very similar to Gateway of India in Mumbai. It honors the world war one soldiers. Compared to other intricate art work we see in most of other architecture in paris this appears a bit simple. But this simplicity gives a minimalistic feel which makes it a favorite structure for me. I was visualizing this structure in twilight even before the trip. It would have been nicer to make images of this even later in night that way all the vehicle traffic could have been eliminated.
