It has been raining and the thick clouds was a good setting to make some images. Usually when sky is used as back drop the contrast between the sky and the subject is high. The digital sensor usually cannot accommodate this tonal range. To workaround this one option is used to use neutral density filters to reduce the contrast between sky and the subject or use flash to handle this scenario. In this case I had used flash. So now the sky is exposed using natural light and the plant is exposed using the light from the flash. Without flash in this scenario the subject would appear dark as a silhouette. When I looked at the plant against the sky it had a painting feel so to retain the mood did not sharpen the subject.

Another variation. Realizing the importance of a solid tripod. The lens is not a image stabilized lens and because the subject is close even a small shake gets magnified.
