Made these images while we went searching for the rock eagle owl in turahalli. After the search turned futile started looking around for any interesting subjects and found this plant (Id unknown ) illuminated by a column of light. Selective lighting always provides interesting opportunities. This coupled with subject isolation brings mood, focus and tension to the image which tends to get missed out when there are too many elements in the image. When I looked at the following flower bud standing in selective light it appeared like a spear trying to penetrate a sheet of darkness. So in that direction tried making some images.
Initially made an image using the 300mm. The output did not match the image what i was visualizing.

Tried the same using 100mm at f/2.8. The subject isolation achieved by the open aperture at 2.8 and controlled exposure resulted in this. When I look back, carefully choosing the background might have helped enhance the output even more.

really like the way you document your experiments; makes it easy for others to try out, too. Thanks.
