Unlike the common rose ringed parakeet they have a red nape on their back. Coming across this for the first time. I was used to these birds being just called parrots and had wondered where the parakeet term comes from. Looks like parakeets are a subset of parrots in the sense they are used to refer to parrots which are smaller in size. There are other parrots which are bigger in size and macaw's which do not fall in the parakeet set.
