After doing bird photography for sometime I guess one tends to develop a liking for a particular species of bird. I am especially fond of shrikes, flycatchers. The one here is a paradise flycatcher male. The female has short streamers. The male's streamers are orange when they are young and as they grow old they become white. This does not mean they look any less beautiful. This is a record shot. Check this link to get an idea of how beautiful this guy looks after he is fully grown. Once fully grown they reach a length of around 60cm of which the tail alone is 40cm. At closer proximity Nandi hills is a good place to see these guys in action. Hope to get a better shot in future.
